KL Design

This project was to create a puppet up to A4 size. The puppet was to appeal to an audience of 4–7-year-olds with an environmental organisation.

I designed and created a Scottish Wild Cat in support of the Woodland Trust. The cats numbers have declined with the loss of suitable environment and the breeding of wild cats with their domestic feline sister.

A hand and rod puppet was created using fur and distinguishing markings of the cat were produced with hand felted wool.

The fore legs are controlled by rods and the mouth and eye movements from the hand. The overall body and head design were created to be age appropriate with a muppet style characteristics.

He was named Moray after the area of Scotland where they are being bred and protected.
